Most Toronto restaurant buyouts mean squeezing your event into a room built for à-la-carte service. Baro is different: the Latin-coast dining room at 485 King West sits inside a building designed around private events, with the heritage Loft one floor up, a covered rooftop above that, and one kitchen running all of it. Book the room, and the building works for you.
What a Baro buyout includes
You take the main dining room — the open kitchen pass, the full bar, the room's own sound — with chef Steve Gonzalez's team cooking the menu they actually want to cook. No outside caterer, no rented kitchen, no negotiating between two operators on the night. The same service team that runs the restaurant runs your event.
Because the building is ours top to bottom, a buyout can grow without moving venues: cocktails on the rooftop patio in season, dinner in the dining room, dancing upstairs in the Loft. One contract, one kitchen, one standard.
When a buyout beats a banquet hall
Corporate dinners where the food is the point. Rehearsal dinners and next-day brunches orbiting a wedding upstairs. Milestone birthdays that want a real restaurant's energy rather than a rented room's silence. Product dinners where the open pass becomes the theatre.
If your guest list outgrows the dining room, the conversation doesn't end — it moves one floor up. That flexibility is the practical difference between buying out a standalone restaurant and buying out a restaurant inside an event building.
How booking works
Buyouts are quoted as a food-and-beverage minimum that depends on the night, the season, and the menu — we quote after a conversation, not from a rate card, because a Tuesday in February and a Saturday in December are different animals. Tours run Tuesday to Saturday by appointment; bring your date and your guest count and we'll tell you honestly whether the room fits.
Where you are
485 King Street West, in the middle of the restaurant row between Spadina and Portland. Hotels within a five-minute walk, streetcar at the door, valet on King. Out-of-town guests will not need directions twice.
Tours run Tuesday to Saturday, by appointment. Bring a date and a guest count — we'll tell you honestly whether the room fits.
