Festival season lives on this street.
Every September the film festival takes over King West — and 485 King is in the middle of it, a short walk from the festival's core venues and the strip where the industry actually gathers. The Loft's brick-and-beam floor, the covered rooftop, and Baro's kitchen have hosted premiere parties, press days, and quiet distributor dinners since the building joined the circuit.
Built for festival logistics
Festival events are production events: they load in fast, run late, and change shape a week out. The building answers with a ground-level bay door off the alley for grip trucks, a freight elevator straight to the floor, house sound and DMX-dimmable lighting that a touring tech can walk into, and a liquor licence that runs late enough for an after-party to earn the name.
The rooms flex the same way. A press day wants the Loft's daylight and brick; a premiere party wants the same room after dark with the chandelier grid dimmed to amber; a ten-person distributor dinner wants Pablo's, the snug room downstairs, with the door closed.
The September calendar is a queue
Festival dates are public years ahead, and the venues inside walking distance of the core book first. The studios and agencies that host every year hold their September nights by late spring. If you're planning a festival event, the honest advice is unglamorous: pick your night early, hold it, and let the guest list catch up later.

Food that isn't festival catering
Baro's kitchen sits one floor below the Loft, which means festival guests eat restaurant food at restaurant temperature — passed canapés from the actual menu, late-night snacks that people photograph, a bar that can pour a proper cocktail for a full room of arrivals without a queue. No warming trays in a service corridor.
